Named by Best Lawyer as "Personal Injury Litigation Lawyer of the Year" for 2012, Peter N. Browne's interest in civil litigation has been evident since he joined Curtis Dawe in 1986. Appointed Queen's Counsel in 2008, he has been a member of the legal community since being called to the bar in April of 1985. Peter brought with him the experience and education gained from the B.A. (Hons) program at St. Francis Xavier and his LL.B. program at Dalhousie.

A partner since 1991, Peter offers a broad range of legal services, but his primary focus in on complex civil litigation, particularly in the areas of medical malpractice defence, administrative / human rights issues and commercial litigation.

He has applied his considerable legal skills to represent the interests of clients before all levels of courts throughout Newfoundland and Labrador as well as many administrative tribunals in the areas of professional discipline/liability and employment.

An advocate for informed decision-making and the protection of legal rights in health care, Peter has served as an expert presenter at numerous seminars and lectures in the area of health law.

Peter has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Eighth Edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada for 2014 in the practice areas of: Health Care Law and Personal Injury Litigation and being named the Best Lawyers' 2014 St. John's Personal Injury Litigation "Lawyer of the Year".

In the past, Peter served the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information by participating as an active member of the practice advisory group.

A member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, Peter was the provincial branch president for the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) in 2001-02. He has since provided assistance to the CBA as a member and Chair of the Judicial Compensation and Benefits Committee. In this capacity, Peter appeared before the fourth quadrennial Judicial Compensation and Benefits Commission to present the CBA's views on process issues.

An avid athlete, Peter has frequently represented Newfoundland and Labrador on numerous occasions since 1980 in track and field, and road racing competitions at the provincial, Atlantic, and national levels. He is a current member and Vice-President of Athletics Northeast the provinces' largest running club.
