Peter N.Browne, Q.C. Mr. Browne joined our firm in 1986 and became a partner in 1991. He practices civil litigation, with a concentration on medical malpractice defence, administrative law, labour and employment matters, and human rights issues. In this capacity, he has represented the interests of professional associations in the defence of medical malpractice claims, represented interests before administrative tribunals in professional disciplinary matters in health care, professional liability and employment matters. Mr. Browne has also practiced criminal law, but in recent years his practice has primarily focused upon the previously mentioned areas. He was enroled in a B.A. (honors)program at St. Francis Xavier University prior to receiving his LL.B. from Dalhousie University's Law School in 1984. He was called to the bar in April, 1985, and appointed Queen's Counsel in 2008. Mr. Browne is a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, past President of the Canadian Bar Association, Newfoundland and Labrador Branch (2001-2002) and a member of the Practice Advisory Group of the Communications Committee, Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information. He has been a presenter in numerous seminars/lectures in the area of health law. In his community involvement he has represented the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador on numerous occasions in track and field/road racing competitions at Provincial, Atlantic and National levels over the past 15 years.
