Mr. Kelly joined the firm in 1979, and is a senior partner. He has an extensive civil litigation practice, which includes major commercial, construction, insurance and administrative law matters on behalf of individuals, corporations, municipal and provincial governments and other bodies.
He received a B.A. from Carleton University, Ottawa and a LL.B from Queen's University. He was called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario in 1978. In 1979 he was called to the Bar of the Newfoundland and Labrador, and in 1996 appointed Queen's Counsel.
In March 2004, Mr. Kelly became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America.
Mr. Kelly is a member of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and a member of the Canadian Bar Association. He has been a lecturer at various Continuing Legal Education Seminars of the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador as well as at the Bar Admission Course of Newfoundland and Labrador in Civil Procedure.
In his community involvement, Mr. Kelly is the Past President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of St. John Ambulance and a past Member of the St. John Ambulance National Board of Directors.
